Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to present the genesis and functioning of pathological organization and mental asylums. Pathological organization is made up of many persistent and interwoven defense mechanisms, narcissistic structures, dichotomous splitting, and destructive tendencies. It provides a psychic pseudo-balance and helps the individual avoid overwhelming paranoid anxiety and guilt. Psychic asylums offer protection and peace of mind from anxiety and suffering, from the confrontation and failures of reality testing resulting from underlying pathological organization. At the same time, they are a trap and prison for the individual, which vaporizes the possibility of emotional development and returns panic, fear, and paranoid anxiety when attempting to leave.

Keywords:

pathological organization, psychic asylums, paranoid-schizoid position, depressive position, borderline organization, narcissistic structure, and projective identification.
