Abstract:

The article focuses on the vast topic of the interaction between faith and reason in the historiosophic treatises of the Russian religious thinkers at the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th centuries. This period is also referred to as the Russian religious modernism, since the observed process of desecularisation often deviated from the dogmatism of the official Orthodox Christianity. The focus is upon the strong but diverse interest of the authors in issues related to the end of history and their interpretation of concepts such as prophetism, eschatology, theurgy, apocalypse, God’s kingdom, “New Earth and New Heaven”, the Church, theocracy, progressivism, “Heaven on Earth”, utopia.
