Abstract:

Music is a universal human socio-cultural phenomenon, captivating the minds and hearts of people since the dawn of their existence. By conducting an extensive study of various historical aspects, one can trace some of the evolutionary roots of musical perception and behavior in humans from ancient times to the present day. Modern science has largely discovered and described the complex neural networks involved in the processing and evaluation of music, as well as the key neurotransmitters and molecular mechanisms that mediate these processes. There is a growing body of evidence in the scientific literature supporting the use of music as a therapeutic tool for various medical conditions, including mental disorders, neurological disorders, and physiological disorders. This article traces the path from prehistoric rhythms to modern music therapy, highlighting the transformative power of music and encouraging further exploration of its wide range of applications in healthcare and human self-improvement and self-knowledge.
