Резюме:

The article is devoted to the enigmatic person of Nicetas Chartophylax, a Byzantine author from the XI or early XII century, who wrote a short compendium on the main disputes between Roma and Constantinople with the attempt for answering the question why and for what reason they split out and divided the Christian world into generally two main parts. The most probable identification of the author is with the addressee of Theophylactus of Ohrid, that is, Nicetas who used to be chartophylax in the 90-s of the XI century and then again between 1106 and 1111. This mildly pro-Latin text was written in the context of the rapprochement between Alexius I Comnenus and the Papacy with the scope of a unified anti-Seljuk action. The text was translated for the first time in Bulgarian by the author of the present article with some important comments.
