The publication gives a short description of the system for training the reserve officers of the Bulgarian army after the Liberation and provides data on the alumni in its three forms of training. It is concluded that the schools for reserve Second Lieutenants turned out to be the most suitable and effective form of training for reserve officers, which lasted the longest: from 1901 to 1998, in the conditions of three socio-economic systems. On the basis of the researched archival documents on the topic, stored in the Directorate of State Military Historical Archives in the town of Veliko Tarnovo, is summarized information about the Jews who were admitted and successfully graduated from the schools for reserve Second Lieutenants, which is compared with the data of the representatives of other minorities in Bulgaria during the period from 1901 until the country left the First World War in 1918. Although they are a relatively small minority community in the country’s population, they are after Bulgarians the second largest group to receive special training in these schools. The reception, preparation and inclusion of a significant group of the foreign minority of Jews in Bulgaria in the officer corps is more than ethnic and religious tolerance, and proves that during this period the Bulgarian state has the greatest confidence in this ethnic element. For their part, the Jews alumni, graduates of the schools for reserve Second Lieutenants, such as reserve officers, officer candidates and senior non-commissioned officers, fully justify their vote of confidence as part of the command staff of the Bulgarian Army during the wars of national liberation and unification, with which they worthily fulfill their patriotic duty.
