Abstract:

The article presents the latest lexical tendencies in the language of contemporary Polish youth. The dominance of certain meanings has been analyzed on the basis of submissions to the Plebiscite for the Youth Word of the Year (2020). Therefore, the obtained data come from natural language users and are based on their linguistic awareness and intuition. On this basis, dominant semantic fields can be distinguished: people, interpersonal relationships, attitudes towards life, cultural preferences, etc. Linguistic creations from these areas are accompanied by expressiveness, humour and playing with language norms.
