Abstract:

The paper is an attempt for a comparison between the Polish forms of address in formal communication and their Bulgarian correspondence. The analysis includes: a) a comparison between the formal structure of the Polish forms of address and their Bulgarian equivalents; b) the stylistic variety of the forms of address used in the two languages; c) the role of the cultural convection in the use of a definite kind of forms of address; d) the changes in the Polish and Bulgarian systems of forms of address after 1990.
