Abstract:

The article presents symbols from the carvings on bishop's thrones and pulpits from unknown and little-known science revival churches from Southwestern Bulgaria, studied by the author. The architectonics of the episcopal thrones and the symbols from the carvings on them were studied. Their genealogy is outlined, based on a comparative analysis of similar monuments from Antiquity and the Middle Ages and their relationship with the symbolism of the cosmic tree. The ancient heritage of the symbols on the pulpits of the studied revival Christian temples was investigated.
