Abstract:

The study deals with the issue of the nature and functions of the family as a part of the institutional structure of society. We have outlined modern processes and tendencies, challenges and destabilizing factors of marriage and family. We argue the necessity for an interdisciplinary approach to developing the family issues and for an active social policy in support and protection of the Bulgarian family.
