Резюме:
An organization called “Mother’s Love” was founded in Gorna Oryahovitsa one of its founders being the teacher Mariola Slavova. In 1872, the name of the organization was changed. This is clear from the evidence of the chairman – Elena Grancharova: “Thirty years old, I formed a women’s association for the first time in Bulgaria with my brother-in-law Vicho Grancharov... Now, my name is written in golden letters in the organisation, which is called “Prosveta”. The lack of a comprehensive study on the activities of the organization in the period from the 20s to the 40s of the 20th century provoked my desire to offer an authentic reading of the “The report book of the Women’s Charitable Society “Prosveta”. Thanks to donations and collection activities, in the fund of the Historical Museum – Gorna Oryahovitsa under Inv. No. 1710 is kept the report book of the Women’s Charitable Society “Prosveta” for the period from 1925 to 1943. It was embroidered by Elenka Hristova Haralambieva who graduated from the School of Economics in the town. The report book contains two hundred sheets, of which eighty-five are filled out. It was laced up in November 1927 by President Moskova. The work and tasks of the members of the organization for each year are recorded in the book. The report book of the Women’s Charitable Society “Prosveta” illuminates the course of events, the problems and the decisions made by the members. The society was founded with the original patriotic idea of liberation, of activities in aid of the local revolutionary committee. With the coming of the modern times, the change the founders longed for was realized. The society does did not stop its activity, it only changed it, turning its attention to the current problems of the epoch. The worked out statute of the society marked the beginning of a library, of cultural, educational and charitable activities. Poor, needy women, men and children were supported after the Balkan and the World War I. Women’s Charitable Society “Prosveta” participated in various organizations, supportsed and completed the construction of the Economic School in the town, where girls were trained in tailoring. The new goal was set, namely the “mental and moral raising of women” corresponding to the spirit of the age.
