Резюме:
The article analyzes the linguistic aspect of the titles which were born by the early medieval Bulgarian ruler and their role in the potestary-political system of the Fist Bulgarian Empire in regard to the recent discussions. The recent intepretations of the titles khan / kaghan and of the composite title kana su begi as Iranian by their linguistic aspect and linguistic appurtenance are still sub judice and without sufficient proofs. The explanation of K. Menges, known in Bulgarian literature thanks to Vesselin Beshevliev, of the title kana su begi as a phraseological word group of type of the so called izafet, still remains the most evidenced. The meaning of “khan – war leader” is well-founded by some specificities of the potestary-political system of the First Bulgarian Empire such as the so called Toelis-Tardush system and the dual kingship.
