Резюме:

The article contains and analyzes vocabulary in Ukrainian and Bulgarian that was updated, borrowed or created in 2019‒2020. It is emphasized that the emergence of a large number of innovations during this period was caused by extralinguistic factors, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been established that part of the new vocabulary in these languages is from the fields of medicine and healthcare, and that in most cases it is about internationalisms. The other part are words used mainly in speech that are looking for their place in the respective language as new or newly created ones. There is variability and unspecified spelling. The most common words from this period contain the components COVID-, covid-, ковiд-/ковид-, корона-, карантин- and zoom-/зум-. They are international in nature, but there are also original words that occur in only one of the analyzed languages. The problem, addressed in the article, has prospects for development because the topic is new and relevant.
