Резюме:

This article is an attempt at studying several frequently used words for expressing the highest degree of exaggeration in Bulgarian informal speech and media advertisements. Most of the interpretations given by the respondents to a questionnaire, designed for this purpose, indicate a trend towards a periodic renewal of this type of lexemes. Shades of emotions in their meaning are connected with the speaker’s impressions and perceptions, and receive broader interpretation by addressees. In terms of meaning, these words become similar to multicomponent and complex frames that address a message without implication or expectation of particular accuracy in the expression, as well as in its potential perception. Being sufficiently original and expressive, they are used as short and universal schemes in which a more or less broad interpretation by all participants in the process of communication is introduced. This conclusion is in full compliance with the economy principle of colloquial speech.
