Based on the empirical research of the online edition of “Yantra DNES” newspaper, an analysis, of the news’ preferences that the citizens of Veliko Tarnovo have, was made. Answers to the following questions have been given: Are criminal news mostly enjoyed by readers? Is there a chance for the “Good news”? Statistical data, provided by the site www. dnesbg.com , was used to determine the interest in positive and negative news over the past six years. Opportunities for rising up the readership interest in specific articles are considered via their active promotion, both on the website of the newspaper, and in the social nets.
