This article examines the more important research studies in the field of Bulgarian linguistics that are devoted to Rhodopi vernaculars and Greek loan words in Bulgarian. The research spans linguistic works from the era of the first generation of Bulgarian linguists – Al. Teorodorov-Balan, L. Miletic, etc., until the present day.
