Peer Review Guidelines

PROCEDURE

FOR DOUBLE-BLIND PEER REVIEW OF THE PAPERS

IN STUDIA PHILOLOGICA

All manuscripts proposed for publication undergo a procedure of double-blind peer review. For this purpose, the publisher invites researchers from different academic fields. The reviewing procedure includes the following stages:

The managing editor of the volume deletes the name of the author of the text and presents the paper proposed for publication to two reviewers. The reviewers evaluate the paper and fill in an evaluation form. In the concluding part of the evaluation, they state their explicit opinion whether the paper should be accepted for publication or not (without corrections, with some corrections and no more reviewing, with recommended corrections and another reviewing). If one of the reviewers has repudiated the paper, it is presented to an arbitrator. If the arbitrator gives positive evaluation, the publication procedure continues.

After the submission of all the evaluation forms, the managing editor of the volume informs the author about the decision of the reviewers and, if necessary, provides the concluding part of the evaluation with the recommended corrections and advice. The author returns the edited paper within two weeks. The managing editor fills in the deleted name of the author and his/her affiliation. The next stage is the pre-press preparation, where the author receives the paged manuscript to authorize it for publication. This is the last chance for making corrections.

The editorial board takes the final decision about the acceptance of the papers for publication. The members of the editorial board have the right to repudiate texts, which are incompatible with the academic requirements of the periodical and do not meet the criteria described above.
