Abstract:

Saint Gregory was bishop of Civitas Turonum (nowadays Tours – France) from 573 to 593 (or 594) and the author of many Christian works. One of his collections of saint’s biographies is „Life of the Fathers“ – 20 stories describing both the life and miracles of monks and recluses inhabiting the present day territories of France and Switzerland. According to Gregory’s view of life, the presence of miracles is a regular outcome of the internal transformation of man and his holiness. In the holiness man obtains a new celestial motherland and new celestial relatives. This is a new world having its beginning here on Earth but possessing the properties of eternity. This is the world of miracles which result from the biggest one concerning the divine life of man.
