Clitic Reduplication and Grammaticalisation in Light of Areal Linguistics

Abstract:

Clitic reduplication is a widely-attested phenomenon in the Bulgarian language and its dialects. It can also be found in the dialects of Macedonian as they form a dialect continuum with Bulgarian dialects. In this paper we try to analyse the dialectal distribution of the clitic reduplication from the view point of grammaticalisation by using dialect atlases.
