Abstract:
The paper examines the etymology of Bulgarian colloquial “dundurkam”, “tanturkam”, “tanturest”, “truntest”, “nadrunden.” A hypothesis about the sound-symbolic origin of the words is presented. The following data are taken into consideration: the formal and semantic parallelism between words with reduplication expressing the same meaning, their formal and semantic variation. The common origin of these words is also possible.
