Abstract:

Pronunciation when speaking a foreign language is one of the prerequisites for a better understanding. Incorrect articulation and intonation could lead to distortion and, in some cases, breakdown of the communication process. The sound systems of the German and Bulgarian languages are the subject of analysis. The paper presents the characteristics of the German sounds that Bulgarian learners find difficult. Appropriate exercises, which will contribute to correct articulation and better intonation, are offered.
