Abstract:
The methodology used in teaching Latin as a classical language is quite different when compared to the same procedure on condition that the target is a contemporary language. The peculiarity of Latin is that it offers no verbal communication and all the language activities are focused on translating, understanding, and analyzing a written text. This is impossible to do without the necessary morphological and syntactic knowledge. Regardless that Latin is not a spoken language, it is still a basic subject for modern university majors such as law, medicine, linguistics, etc., because the whole terminological apparatus used consists of Latin lexical items per se. The present article aims to give information about the methodology used when tests in specialized medical Latin are constructed, evaluated, and graded at the Medical University – Plovdiv.
