Abstract:

The subject of the article is foreign language teaching that intertwines language and culture in a linguistic and cultural system, different from the one perceived in the traditional way by the separate communities. The classroom is seen as an element of culture where a country’s typical teaching and learning habits dominate. They are manifested in the activities of educators and learners, the organisation of the classrooms, and the preparation of teaching materials. Examples from the author’s personal empirical experience are given.
