Abstract:

Mobile devices have become an integral part of modern life. Today it is nearly impossible to imagine a world or any aspect of life that has remained unaffected by them – from communications to entertainment and education. This combination of hardware and software offers many advantages and convenience when it comes to teaching and learning foreign languages in a more interactive, engaging and accessible way. The present paper deals with the use of mobile device applications (apps), how they complement and facilitate language education in and outside the classroom and how they affect the education of students studying Japanese as a second language, based on first-hand teacher and student experience.
