Abstract:

The article traces theoretical influences on the academic discipline Cultural Studies, which the British Council – among other agencies – helped introduce to Bulgaria at the end of the twentieth century. Thirty years later, based on the Bulgarian database of dissertations for awarding academic titles and qualifications NACID, an attempt is made to see what cultural studies research is carried out in Bulgaria. Research strands with an interest in the subject matter are established, content analysis of the topics is conducted, and the range of methodologies is explored.
