Abstract:
The colonization of Latin America began in the 16th century, and as a result, the official religion became Catholicism and the official language became Spanish.The aim of this article is to analyse the main phonetic lexical and morphosyntactic differences between the Spanish language in Latin America and the one in Spain in historical perspective. In addition, explained are the differences between the colloquial language, used in continental Spain and the language used in South and Central America. The conclusion reached by the research is that the European Spanish language is influenced by English, while the Latin American language is influenced by the languages spoken by the indigenous population.
