Abstract:
The article examines the problem of the existential wanderings between truth and lies of the characters in Stamatov‘s prose. The focus is on the deep morality of each character, whose secrets, weaknesses, vices, innermost thoughts confront him with the difficult task of preserving his subjective world. A world which, although filled with truths and lies about ourselves, must remain inaccessible to outsiders. The main aspects through which Stamatov‘s work is understood in the article are the clash between truth and lies, the existential questions plaguing the human soul, the loneliness of the soul, the clash between the individual and the collective, the emotional and psychological dynamics that occur in the characters. The object of textual observations are three works – “A Corner of the Soul”, “The Guilty” and “Vensky”. Based on their analysis, the duality of life, expressed through truth and lies, through the complexity of human moral choices and inner impulses that drive human behavior is proven.
