Abstract:

The present work aims to study some word-forming formants for intensification (specifically prefixes with meaning quantity and intensity) of Greek origin in Bulgarian and Russian. In many languages, the category of intensity, which is expressed also through units at the level of word formation, is characterized as one of the ways of expressing the national and cultural features of a given nation, contains within itself the specific expressive-evaluative possibilities of the respective language, of the respective linguistic culture. As a result of the intensification process, the individual native speaker gives this same language its own expressiveness, reflecting feelings, emotions, evaluation, which form details of its linguistic picture.
