Abstract:
The text is an attempt to project the idea of universality – uniqueness in the field of the colour space of two Slavic languages – Bulgarian and Czech. The focus of our attention is a specific type of names of colour hues, built by comparison with real-world objects, and one of the goals is to represent how the native speakers of different languages talk about the colours they see. A matrix is proposed that we use to track the ethno-specific features of the studied vocabulary mainly at the structural-semantic and pragmatic level.
