Резюме:
The aim of this study is to entirely analyze the key factors that influence the performance level and sports qualification of female volleyball players at the Technical University of Sofia (TU-Sofia). Specifically, the research examines the impact of physical attributes, technical skills, and anthropometric characteristics on athletic performance by comparing two distinct groups of athletes: the control group (starters) and the experimental group (reserve players). These groups were subjected to various physical fitness tests and volleyball-specific evaluations to assess their physical preparedness and qualification for competitive play. The study draws upon a comprehensive dataset collected during the participation of the athletes in the university's volleyball league from 2017 to 2023. The analysis focuses on the relationship between physical development (including height, weight, limb length), specific volleyball skills, and performance outcomes in official competitions. The key physical attributes considered in this research include vertical jump capacity, sprinting speed (20-meter run), and strength endurance as measured through sit-up tests. The technical skills evaluated include specific volleyball movements, such as passing, spiking, and serving accuracy. Statistical analysis of the data was conducted using the Studеnt's t-test to determine the significance of the observed differences between the two groups (starters vs. reserve players) for various physical and technical indicators. The results indicated that significant performance advantages were observed for the starters in nearly all tested parameters, especially in terms of physical strength, vertical jump ability, and volleyball-specific technical skills, such as spiking and serving accuracy. These findings highlight the crucial role of specialized training and advanced preparation for achieving high performance in competitive volleyball. Key factors found to be critical for the success and sports qualifications of the athletes include age, height, limb length, vertical jump height, and technical proficiency in volleyball-specific movements. The study reveals that while age and height can be advantageous for some performance metrics, specialized technical training, particularly in serving, spiking, and passing, plays a more significant role in determining an athlete's competitive success. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the importance of periodized physical training, focusing on both endurance and strength, as well as targeted volleyball skill development. This study contributes to the understanding of the interplay between physical conditioning, anthropometric characteristics, and sports performance, offering valuable insights into how these factors collectively influence the qualification and success of university-level female volleyball players.
