The dictatorship of Gen. Primo de Rivera continued six years and four months. During this period, the General succeeded in exacerbating the relations of the ruling elite with almost all layers and groups in the Spanish society. Education was gradually politicized and became increasingly subjected to the dominant political power. The work of education inspection had to conform with politician deducation, with administration and teachers, andultimately, with the needs of the established authority and the requirements for obtaining educational degree. Professors in higher education institutions, school teachers and representatives of other educational institutions embodied liberal spirit. They are subjected to strict control by the dictatorship.
