Резюме:

The aim is to examine how social networks, in this case the social media TikTok, Instagram, and X, are reshaping public discourse on the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Social networks, social media, and platforms offer an alternative narrative that reaches critical masses of society, and on this basis, people form their perceptions of the war in the Gaza Strip. This discourse presents different facts and comments compared to the news presented by traditional media in the US and Europe. The hypothesis is that the posts, videos, and comments published on these social media platforms have an impact and indirectly refer to the intensification of events on a social level. The methods used are historical chronological review, critical discourse analysis, and secondary data analysis. Results from studies conducted during the first year of the conflict were selected, which examine behavior and trends in reporting current events through social media during military conflict. The results show that there are public reactions, whose initial visible public expression is the student protests at American universities in the spring of 2024. They subsequently triggerred a wave of similar demonstrations in many higher education institutions around the world.
