The paper studies idioms containing ethnonyms. Until recently, Bulgarian linguistics studied them predominantly with an emphasis on idioms in the Bulgarian language. It would be interesting to study the topic from the reverse perspective, namely, what idioms exist containing the Bulgarian ethnonym (and its derivatives) as its component in the phraseology and in the paremiology of other nations, specifically our neighbouring nations about whom we ourselves have a great number of idioms.
