Derivative Nouns with -išt(e) Suffix in the Turnovo Edition of The Prologue in Verse

Abstract:

The article studies nomina loci with the -išt(e) suffix from the 12-volume series of the Tarnovo edition of The Prologue in Verse. In the overall body of the Old Bulgarian monuments from 10th – 11th c. 31 nouns for place are registered, and in the The Prologue in Verse there are 44 nouns. The larger part of nomina loci with the -ishte suffix from the The Prologue in Verse are preserved in the contemporary Bulgarian language, which is a proof for the unity of Bulgarian language on lexical level in relation to semantics and word derivation. The Tarnovo edition of The Prologue in Verse is rich and not fully investigated source for historical lexicology and dialectology.
