Abstract:
Literary canon is the object of years of theoretical discussions and methodological-didactical decisions in relation to teaching German language and literature as native in schools. In intercultural aspect thеse topics are also viewed in German language publications in the sphere of German as a foreign language. The present article studies the question of how relevant the debate about the literary canon is to German language teaching in Bulgaria. It is aimed to contribute to the discussion on the choice of texts for teaching German as a foreign language in Bulgarian schools. For this purpose some theoretical bases of the sphere of literary teaching methodology are developed, curricula are viewed for native language teaching of literature and for teaching German as a foreign language in Bulgarian schools, and results of surveys among university teachers and teachers are presented.
