Резюме:

Concrete, once relegated to the functional realms of infrastructure and construction, has emerged as a potent medium of artistic expression, particularly within the framework of urban modernity. Its transformation from a utilitarian building material into a significant sculptural medium mirrors broader shifts in cultural, aesthetic, and philosophical conceptions of the urban environment. Across global cities, concrete sculptures stand as embodiments of modern urban experience—articulating the complexity of contemporary life, the evolution of industrial societies, and the creative potential intrinsic to modern materials. This paper examines the role of concrete sculpture as both a representation and material manifestation of urban modernity, paying special attention to the expanded expressive capacities enabled by the use of ferrocement composites.
