Резюме:

This study explores the intersection of operations management and art by engaging students from both disciplines in a collaborative project to redefine and evaluate the concept of quality. The objective was to assess whether interdisciplinary teaching can broaden students’ perceptions of how operations management principles apply to creative fields like art. The project involved forming interdisciplinary teams of business and art students, who first participated in presentations on product quality dimensions and art quality. Teams then engaged in group discussions to create their own quality dimensions for artworks, followed by ranking 25 paintings using these dimensions. Pre- and post-project surveys were conducted to measure changes in students’ perceptions of interdisciplinary connections. The results showed a significant shift in understanding, with students recognizing that operations management concepts could apply to art, while also appreciating the subjective nature of art quality. The findings suggest that interdisciplinary collaboration fosters innovative thinking and a deeper appreciation for how traditionally separate fields can inform one another, offering a valuable pedagogical model for higher education.
