Резюме:
Historically, the development of the Ex Libris (bookplate) form is conditioned by a transformation of its primary functionality and meaningful searches, corresponding today with the realization of smallformat graphics as a separate genre. The kinship of these two types of graphic works is expressed in a kind of transcription of the role and applicability of the work in the overall context of art. Created with pure unitary functionality, the Ex Libris synthesizes in its form maximum stylized generality with an emphasis on the informative basis of a statement. Its role has completely changed in the search for an elegant, even narrative character whereby the primary monumental purity and laconic language have transformed into a rich, compositional–ideal development. The foundation for this new field of expression, giving the Ex Libris an independent and self-sufficient existence, is justified mainly by collector’s demand. Over the years, it has developed into associations of admirers of this graphic form, resulting in the need to organize competitions, exhibitions, and conferences dedicated to bookplate works. These works are small in size, but retain the basic principles of textual construction that are unique to the bookplate as a graphic genre.
