Резюме:


The paper deals with the results and conclusions from a word association experiment. The subjects of the experiment were 50 ten-year-old students in their third year of study English. The aim was to draw conclusions on the methods of Teaching semantics in foreign language lessons to young learners. The results show different pictures of the world in the native and the foreign language – in the native language part the learners give all the possible association words to the stimulus word, while their foreign language knowledge is incomplete and schematic, lacking words of qualities and relations. Foreign language teachers should, therefore, build up concepts and cultural stereotypes as well as vocabulary.
